Before I became a Humanist Celebrant I was a secondary English teacher for over a decade, ultimately as a Head of Department in Suffolk. Relocating, I also found myself ready for a new challenge, and coincidentally came across a leaflet from the British Humanist Association. Until then I had simply regarded myself as an atheist, and had never realised that Humanism would prove to be such an accurate representation of what I think and feel. I discovered you could train to be a Humanist Celebrant and have not looked back since. As well as developing my ceremony work, designing bespoke ceremonies for all sorts of occasions, I also plan to extend my writing, radio and education projects, sharing information about Humanism and offering a Humanist perspective on life in the process.
